Our Research
Takahashi Group focuses on the design of materials, catalysts, and chemical reactions in a combination of experiments, theory, computations, informatics, AI and Robotics.
Takahashi Group works with a wide range of materials, from catalysts to biomaterials.
The group covers topics ranging from machine learning to artificial intelligence, including the development of original AI models.
The main research focus is the space carbon cycle, which aims to utilize CH₄ and establish CO₂ capture and storage, as well as CO₂ hydrogenation using H₂ produced from water, to regenerate CH₄. This closed carbon cycle is a key process for sustainable space systems, such as those envisioned for Mars missions and long-duration space exploration
Ultimately, the goal is laboratory automation in which AI learns from experimental data, generates hypotheses, and designs experiments that are validated by robotic systems. The resulting data are automatically analyzed and fed back to further improve the models. Therefore, our work integrates artificial intelligence and robotics.
